My daughter is quite a basketball stud and she’s only a 3rd grader, her skills and hard work blow my mind and I love watching her play! I’m a sports nut myself, but the joy and pride I feel for her as I see her hard work pay off is a joy I just can’t explain.
In preparation for the tournament, we have to make sure her bag is packed and that our cooler is full of healthy foods. Eating clean is important to me for many reasons, one reason is that of food intolerance and another is because I want us to avoid the salty sugary junk food at the concession stand. Going to these tournaments always tug hard with temptation, though, the aroma of the hot dogs, nachos, and baked goods fill our senses and make us all start to crave and drool. So to prep properly I need to make the food in my cooler be as appetizing and feeds off the temptation for the concessions stand. So I need to include, sweet things, salty things and things that are as, or more, appetizing than the food that fills the air.
In preparation for this weekend’s tourney, I’ve made a list of foots that will keep us satisfied, full, and healthy. Our cooler will contain:
- Hard Boiled Eggs
- Mini Peanut butter cups (Justin’s almond putter)
- Power Balls (put everyone’s sweet tooth at bay)
- cheese slices
- Lunch meat (usually not a fan, but…Salomi, pepperoni, turkey)
- Annie’s bunny crackers (for the kids)
I’d love to hear how you prep for meets or tournaments to keep your family healthy, please share them in the comments.
